It’s easy to think that we are all alone on this journey to live fully as the person God has created and called us to be. Somehow we convince ourselves that everyone else has it figured out…we’re the ones who are struggling and face unexpected challenges along the way. But the truth is we are not alone. God is constantly doing His work in all of us to refine and shape us so that we can be our true selves. And He will put us in whatever situation necessary to help us grow!
Today I am joined by Rachel Jones on the Giving Up Normal podcast. Rachel is an author, wife, mom, avid runner, and expatriate who is living life with her family in Djibouti, a country in the horn of Africa where she and her husband founded an English language American school. She loves to help people live at the crossroads of faith and culture…which is the heart of where we find ourselves when we are “giving up normal.”
Over this two-part interview Rachel shares:
- Her story of moving to Djibouti and the refining process which she refers to as “culture-stripping”
- How she has embraced a slower-paced life
- How she’s learned to care for her soul
- Wisdom if you are sensing a call to do life differently but are struggling
