Who was it that said, “If you want something different than what you have, you need to do something different than what you’ve done?” Change doesn’t just happen. You can wish for it, pray for it, dream about it, plan it, and talk about it until the cows come home, but unless you actually put your thoughts into action and DO something, your dreams will remain like the morning dew…visible one moment, gone the next.
This is the underlying principle of the second part of my conversation with Brett Hardy on this week’s episode of the Giving Up Normal podcast. Brett challenges us that we need to do more than agree that God has a unique adventure for us and that we desire for something more. We can read all the verses, listen to all the podcasts and have all the conversations in the world about how we want life to be different, but unless we intentionally choose to do something different, things will not change. Agreement, while an important first step, only gets us so far. Our behaviors and choices need to align with our thinking.
What have you talked about wanting in your life? What do you pray will be different? Do you want more time with friends and family, space and margin in your day, or a more meaningful sabbath? Perhaps you sense that it is time to fully embrace and surrender to a desire, a destiny, an adventure that God has been showing you?
What do you see?
What do you sense?
What will you do about it?
Be bold. Surrender. Step forward. And enjoy the adventure ahead!
